چکیده
ABSTRACT This systematic review aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of inspiratory muscle training (IMT) in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), analyzing effects IMT on strength and endurance, exercise tolerance reduction dyspnea. A search was carried out PubMed, Cochrane Lilacs databases, from August 2021 February 2023, searching for studies published 2016. The descriptors used followed description MeSH/DeCS terms, namely: “Pulmonary Disease, Chronic Obstructive,” “Breathing Exercises,” “Exercise Tolerance,” “Dyspnea,” “Muscle strength,” languages: English Portuguese, using Boolean operators “AND” “OR.” Ten met inclusion criteria, including 733 patients. In all examined studies, there a significant increase endurance compared control group; ten analyzed, four showed advances reducing dyspnea tolerance. Notably, is effective improving dyspnea, tolerance, increasing moderate severe COPD.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with a chronic inflammatory response in airways and lung parenchyma that results in significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Cigarette smoking considered as an important risk factor plays a role in pathogenesis of disease. Pneumocystis jirovecii is an atypical opportunistic fungus that causes pneumonia in immunosuppressed host, al...
متن کاملInspiratory muscle training may increase peak inspiratory flow in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
BACKGROUND When choosing a specific inhalation device for a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patient, the internal airflow resistance and the ability of the patient to overcome it and to create an optimal inspiratory flow are essential. OBJECTIVES The purpose of the present study was to investigate: (1) the peak inspiratory flow (PIF) that a patient with COPD can generate while br...
متن کاملEffect of Diaphragmatic Respiratory Training on Some Pulmonary Indexes in Older People With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Objectives Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is one of the most important progressive pulmonary disorders. Diaphragmatic dysfunction is an essential factor in the worsening and progression of symptoms in patients with COPD. Therefore, we investigated the effect of diaphragmatic respiratory training on some pulmonary indexes in these patients. Methods & Materials This quasi-experimen...
